YES THEY ARE!!! I'm from Bessemer! The Nimrods are definatly a big rivalry! I graduated the same year as George Peterson IV! So from my experience in highschool going to the games where bessemer and watersmeet played against each other everyone was practically killing each other. The bessemer fans were brutal to the watersmeet fans and the same with watersmeet fans to bessemer fans! I loved being from bessemer! The 2 greatest memories I had in Highschool were being in Choir and going to the bessemer watersmeet games!!!! I always had fun cheering and rooting for bessemer! Watersmeet is a good bball team! I give credit where credit is due and George Peterson III was and is a great coach! I dont think bessemer gave enough credit for the coaches especially George because with out his coaching skills we would have never been rivals and would have never had those good nervous feelings deep down when either team was on the edge of winning or losing! I might not say this around bessemer ( afraid of being kicked out) but Im glad Watersmeet is getting all of this attention! Their a great team, from my 9th grade year in 03 to present day! Great job Nimrods on your fame you deserve it!!!!

I think that sports are taken seriously most everywhere. The problem I have is with the win at all costs mentality that has come with it. Baseball coaches started recruiting my son for their teams when he was 10 years old. And the pressure put on these kids at such a young age to win is incredible. You see so many injuries to kids now. One of my son's friend just had tommy john surgery and is 17 years old!!!Many burn out and quit sports at a young age because of this. when we were 10, 11, 12 years old everyone played regardless of the score, and we had fun. Now you only get on a team if you are one of the GOOD ones.

i just want to know where everyone was at when the speedboys made state for the first time in 48 years. i was a member of the speedboys when we stormed to east lansing in 2000. i graduated from bessemer in 2001, where was everyone then? i scored 23 against the nimrods when we beat them by 45 points. good job getting to the point of being a a good basketball team, but bessemer used to beat the crap out of the nimrods.
