Assuming that Mike Myers had a good relationship with his father, his statement that "[his] father didn't know of anything so bad that it couldn't be laughed at," or words to that effect is ridiculous. Why is it that when a celebrity states something, it is accepted as truth and something that people should admire or even emulate? For instance, murder, rape, child abuse, child molestation, the Holocaust, Darfur - these things aren't so bad that they should be laughed at? Myers' "talent" is simply overrated - he really isn't funny.

Perhaps I'm jumping the gun here. Since all I am commenting on is a soundbite for an upcoming episode of what appears to be a lackluster and certainly politically polarizing series, maybe Myers expounds on that statement indicating that he never agreed with his father and that he was as ridiculous as his son is.

Hey there, girard, sorry this got to you, but I will say this: I watched this show and was deeply touched by the interweaving of spirituality and comedy and how much Mike Myers and Deepak Chopra share in the way they live what on the surface is two totally different lives.
Honestly, both of these men are folks that just kind of flew under my radar; I never really felt overly-impressed or drawn to their work. I've come away from this episode with a new appreciation for both of them, not only as talented and brilliant, but also mavericks in their fields. And now I feel like I've got a lot of catching up to do!
Before you judge one quote too harshly, do try to watch it. It really is one of my favorites.
