Is carrying a gun more likely to help get you out of a sticky situation or into one?

First let me say that this episode had me so riveted to the screen, that I was watching it at 3am, unwilling to give it up. Unfortunately I fell asleep before the verdict, so I'm writing this without knowing how it all ended! I truly hope the jury saw what I saw in the case, and that the defendants were aquitted. I found Jesus a compelling and ernest defendant. He seemed to be a good man in a bad position, dealing with known gang members spoiling for a fight, capable of killing anyone in their way. The fact that they made a u-turn at the traffic light tells me they were looking to hurt someone that morning, and Jesus and his friend just happened to be handy. There is one difference in my mind though, between this case and the average "gun fight in the parking lot" scenerio - Jesus' military training. I've heard that when an average person like me tries to use a gun for protection, they almost always get shot, either with their own gun or with their opponent's. Bringing a gun into a situation implies intent to use it, and unless one has had serious firearms training, it gives the opponent a weapon to use on its owner. Chances are, the aggressor has had more face-to-face experience with shooting someone than the person being attacked. But Jesus had training. And if he's been in Iraq, he's been forced into a vigilance that we'll never know. The young people there must use their guns at a moment's notice, or they will die. He went for his gun with the knowledge that humans are capable of commiting great harm to one another, and his instinct was to protect his friends. I pray that he is safe in his home tonight, in the company of his family; not alone, in a jail cell somewhere. If he hadn't had his gun, I believe he and his friends would've died in that parking lot. Do I believe in carrying a gun for self-defense? No. But Jesus was lucky to have had his with him - and so were his friends.

Wei was my boyfriend of over two years, and my best friend. He had a past. But he did his time, and moved to Las Vegas to start over. The bottom line is, the love of my life died with NO way to defend himself. When the vehicle he was riding in that was shot at REPEATEDLY, not just at Wei, but at Kristian, they had to take it in for investigation. ALL gunshots were coming into the vehicle, none were coming out of it. He was unarmed, and rowdy at most. He was shot down and killed brutally for no reason, and when Jesus was done with him, he shot at Kristian's face. That isn't self defense. That is killing someone in cold blood.

why didn't the guys in the range rover just leave and go home ??

instead they decided to go back and scare vega and as the driver testified have a fist fight 'at worst'

they made a stupid choice and it cost one of them their life.

no this was not a 'cold blooded murder'

they should have just LEFT and went home then non of this would of happened

why didn't they just turn around and go home? probably because they wanted to start a fight with who would end up to be a killer. not a shoot out! just a fight... and i think a better question would be why would someone start shooting because they THOUGHT they saw a gun? please. i still can't believe this fool is free. five days ago i went to wei's grave site... three years since he was taken from this world and it doesn't get any easier.

it can get you out of one bad situation and right into another... wei never drove around with weapons on him. maybe in the past he did... but he did his time and learned from his mistakes. he was moving forward in life, and got short-stopped by a guy who was moving backwards.
