Hmm... I've tried several times to add a marker to the map, but it won't come up. I just get sent to the "edit listing" page. Has this happened to anyone else?
How do I get it to work?

        Greetings Collette,
I figured it out - at least for me. Are you running a Mac and browsing with Safari? I have been, and lately noticed that a number of sites have issues with Safari. I also have Firefox and have switched over to it as my default browser and was able to place my marker :^)

Other than that, I have seen you around (CABN list) and wanted you to know I love your website and appreciate what you are doing there. And it's nice to see someone else up in our end of the state. Keep up the good work.

That's really weird since Safari is based on an open-source engine that is more standards-compliant than any other Web-browser code base. It's too bad -- such a nice website otherwise. They must not be paying much attention to quality control. I also bet that they are using a lot of volunteers and interns with little professional experience.
Unfortunate, because Sundance has a close relationship with Apple (iTunes) and because Macs are very popular among conservationists and creative people, who make up large portions of the Sundance audience!

Go figure. As far as I can tell no browser is perfect - but I am no expert.
I like Safari and am most comfortable with it, but I keep a few browsers so I can see what my site looks like from different "viewpoints". One usually works better than another in various websites. Some sites just are maddening (for me it is the USPS site, which I need for shipping). If you are having some odd (and frustrating) problem, switch browsers and see what happens. Maybe it has to do with the browser used to set up a particular site in the first place... Does anyone know?

Ariane, if you have any other browser, try it to place the marker. If you don't, I suggest downloading one or two just to have for times like this.

              Good luck,
              Dottie

          Hello,

We're sorry if you're having problems with Safari on Mac. We have tested this area of our site on several versions of Safari on different computers with no problems. In order to better diagnose whether an issue exists, we need a little more information:

          1. What version of Safari you are using
          2. What url shows up in the Safari address bar when you click "add marker" (just copy and paste it here)
          3. If you are having other problems besides placing map markers, a specific description of the problem.

As we test repeatedly and on an ongoing basis with Safari 2.0.4 (the latest version), you may be able to cure your problem simply by updating your browser.

          Sincerely,

          - Sundance Channel

            Hi there,

It's great to see you are so on it for keeping the site working.
In answer to your query, I use Safari Version 2.0.4 (419.3)
            When I click "add placemarks" I go to: http://www.sundancechannel.com/members/Placemarks, then: http://www.sundancechannel.com/maps/EditPlacemark?ixPlacemark=-1 , then: http://www.sundancechannel.com/maps/EditPlacemark?ixPlacemark=-1&sPlacemarkType=business

What was happening was, after filling out all the info and hitting "update" I would go back to the first in the series (http://www.sundancechannel.com/members/Placemarks) Where no placemark would be listed. I have just switched to using Firefox for the site. Everything works just fine in Firefox.
Another consideration is that I am using a satellite ISP (Hughes.net), which has latency issues... but I don't see why Firefox would work either, if that is the problem.

            I hope this helps.

Thanks Dottie for trying to help. I have tried both Firefox & Safari, both most current version on my Mac. I have tried it on my satellite link and my cable connection. All four attempts have failed. We would really like to be there, but the time it is taking has remained fruitless.
