So, I'm Kyle Henry, the director of ROOM. Did you see the broadcast? If so, interested to hear what you think. The film was meant to be a conversation piece, a jumping off point for discussion. If you'd like to read some of my thoughts, check out ROOM's MySpace site, which includes a few detailed blog entries -

Sincerely,
Kyle

| What the heck! You had me all the way and then dropped me like a hot potato at the end. Not my job to second guess the end of movies..I was bummed. Otherwise the film was good.

Plenty of movies have "ambiguous" endings.
That makes them more interesting.
More reason to see the movie again and discuss it with others.
Maybe there is some significance to the "light" at the end.
A new awakening....or a spiritual direction for this woman ?

A movie where nothing actually happens.
The main character is boring.
It has a pointless plot and a woman chasing a vision that turn out to be nothing.
Don't waste my time with this crap.

| You asked what we thought--I didn't like it. I found it not just depressing, but the main character was beyond dull, and nothing was plausible or intersting. You meant it as a conversatione piece, but I found nothing to discuss. After viewing it I was depressed. I only watched it because you did want our views and it wasn't a long movie, so I struggled to sit through it. If she was meant to be a shizoprehrenic, it might make sense--but I don't think you meant that, did you? If it was based on her visions, it was unrealistic to find what she was looking for in a large city like NY. Another thing was, I couldn't connect with her, she didn't hold my sympathy, she was lacking in that area. Her husband was very kind and for you to throw in her having a one nighter was disturbing, to add to an already sad movie.
