I posted this under "Something Broke? We'll fix it", but it hasn't got a response.

The schedule shows EST. I live in Mountain Standard Time (MST). When I push the link to change to MST it brings up my profile, which is already set to MST. It appears that CST works, though PST doesn't work either.

      Hello,

We've confirmed that there is a technical issue with the time zone function on our web site. We're currently working on a fix. Thanks for your feedback.

I just tried it and it appears that it is now off by three hours. In other words you changed it, but it is still not accurate. Thanks in advance for looking at this...

      Hello all,

We realize this is frustrating for you guys, but there are actually several different issues here, some of which are scheduled for a fix early next month. Unfortunately, some other issues are out of our control.

First, time zone switching does actually work. If you are set to EST, and you click the button that says "CST" on the schedule, you will be taken to your profile, where you can change the time zone. Now, the way this is presented right now is not ideal, and we are working on several ways of making this better. But it does work basically as currently designed, with one or two small technical issues that don't affect functionality. Bear in mind we recently redesigned our entire web site, so there are still going to be tweaks required here and there to the user experience, and this is one of them. This should be more intuitive by early next month.

However, there is another issue beyond that that some of you might be having, and that's which feed your local provider is using. Sundance Channel provides two feeds - one East, one West - and it is up to the cable or satellite operator which feed to use. The difference between these feeds is 3 hours, meaning the showtimes on the east and west coasts are the same, and CT and MT showtimes are offset. Our web site assumes that ET and CT use the east feed, while PT and MT use the west feed. The vast majority of the time, this is the case. So Central Time showtimes are 1 hour before Eastern Time, and Mountain Time showtimes are 1 hour after Pacific Time. We've also verified that this is working correctly on our web site.

Unfortunately, your provider may be using a different feed than the one we expect, for whatever reason. A provider in the Central Time zone using the west feed would have showtimes 2 hours off from what is in our online schedule. There is really no way for us to deal with that situation. The traditional networks get around this problem by utilizing affiliates, so they have many multiple local "feeds", not just two national ones. But all we can do is ensure that our schedule is correct for the vast majority of our viewers.

If you are having problems with time zones, please try after the fixes are in early next month. We'll post another update at that time.

You said, "Unfortunately, your provider may be using a different feed than the one we expect, for whatever reason. ... There is really no way for us to deal with that situation. ... But all we can do is ensure that our schedule is correct for the vast majority of our viewers."

I'm a DirecTV viewer in CA - PST. Apparently they ship your east feed to all of us across the whole US. Something you schedule for 10 PM appears here at 7 PM. I would think DirecTV would be a big enough chunk of your viewership to warrant a separate choice of timezone. If not, couldn't you just add a few more choices, like East-1, East-2, East-3, West+1, West+2, ... ?

It would be nice to see this finally fixed - it has been happening for close to ten years now!

          Hello,

First, we want to say that selecting time zones has now been significantly improved. You can now click a time zone from the schedule page - whether logged in or not - and it will immediately reflect the new time zone selection. No more having to go to your member page to do this unless you prefer doing it that way.

Second, regarding the DirecTV issue, we're still looking into ways we can accommodate this. Our old site had various options for selecting providers and it was unwieldy and much too complicated - and we found that most people never used these options, even if their situation called for a different time zone/feed combination. We want to avoid that. But there may be other things we can do to try to make the schedule easier to use for those getting a different feed than the one we expect. We'll continue to work on this and let you know of any changes.

I just subscribed to your web services so I could get the schedule in PST, but despite your claims, I cannot do that. I have PST chosen in my profile and I also tried to change to PST in your schedule. It doesn't work. All I get is ET. I emailed you about this directly, but have not received a response. Please help!

            Thank you,

            Dorrie
