[b]Could a show like this work in the US ? It might be interesting and fun to find out. Images of 'finishing school' have mostly been reserved for the English. Proper manners and politeness can open doors in not only the corporate world but in all walks of life. Women in the USA are no different than in Britain, hard working, single with or without children. What we do have in common with our sisters across the pond is a desire to succeed. To succeed in our ventures. How could a 'finishing school' American style help ? And would it ?

I think it would be a great sucess, the way these young girls acts today I think they need it .maybe their wouldn't be so many young mothers. They would be thought to respect themselves. And wait for marriage. They would also have a better future. And if they had a show for a single womne of mature age I would be the first to apply! Now this is only my opinion. caturn

There is going to be a show sorta like it on VH1 but I think it has the cast offs from Flavor of Love and is hosted by Mo'nique. I don't think it will be as good as L to L though.

        love,

I think it is needed. Here in the U.S. a lot of the general population lack refinement.

WHAT A TRANSFORMATION FOR THESE YOUNG LADIES!

THIS SHOW HAS REALLY MADE A DIFFERENCE IN MY LIFE. NOW, I AM SO AWARE OF BEING POISED AND GRACEFUL; EVEN WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING.

YES, THE UNITED STATES AND EVERY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD DESERVES THIS AMAZING SHOW - TO RAISE AWARENESS OF CULTURAL ETIQUETTE AND ETHICS. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR SELF-CONFIDANCE, WHICH MAKES A LADY STRONG AND RESPECTFUL. SUCH A LADY WILL NOT ACCEPT ABUSE OR DISRESPECT FROM ANYONE, ESPECIALLY HERSELF.

MY ONLY HOPE IS THAT THERE WILL BE A THIRD SEASON OF THIS SHOW.

THE ONE CON TO THIS SERIES IS THAT IT HAS COMMERCIALS. NOT TOO MANY, BUT JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU RETREAT BACK TO REAL LIFE. IT IS SAD. IS IT NOT WHY WE PAY SO MUCH MONEY FOR THESE SO-CALLED "COMMERCIAL-FREE" INDEPENDENT CHANNELS?

HOWEVER, THE SHOW IS WELL WORTH SITTING THROUGH.

EVERY FEMALE IN THE WORLD SHOULD BE SENT THE ENTIRE SERIES AND FORCED TO WATCH IT.

IT IS VERY IRONIC HOW MANY OF THE TEACHERS AND ROYALTY HAVE TOO MUCH MAKE-UP ON, OR BAD TEETH, ETC...

              PLEASE WATCH THIS SHOW!

              SINCERELY

I think it would be interesting to definantly have a show like this in the US. I would surely watch it.

I know they are having something similar on VH1 in april. It's called "Charm School", but I don't believe it will be as serious as this show is.

I'd never heard of this show until a few days ago when I was getting dressed to go out. They were playing all the episodes from season 2 one after the other. I tivo'd all of them and finally finished watching them yesterday.

                I can't wait until a new season starts! :)

Now I understand what the fuss was about my mother when I was much younger. I was extremely surprised to see this type of show and I loved it.
I am so delighted in the transformations of the young women blossoming into beautiful well manner ladies. Hurray for you all. Etiquette is a past pleasantry that needs to return to all societies. Well Done!

What about US Bum to Gentleman? So many more men are ruder than the women in my experience, especially to the elderly....

There was the reality show a few years ago "I Want to Be a Hilton" that took working class people to the Hamptons and taught them etiquette. But there was no formal school, just experts in the subjects they were covering. It was both men and women though.

I think the show would be quite successful here. You can find cotillion's and the worlds of debutantes all over. One aspect I believe that would be difficult to recreate is the aristocratic society the ladies would be attempting to navigate into. In the US, money and class don't necessarily go hand in hand.

There is a need for good manners in all strata of society in the US, not just debutantes. I graduated from an old-fashioned hospital-based school of nursing, and the nuns that taught us nursing care also taught us ethics and how to treat people with kindness, and the basis of good manners is kindness and respect for other humans, no matter how humble their place in society may be. Without that underlying kindness and respect, no veneer of table manners and curtsying properly can disguise you. That is what my mother also taught me, that a lady behaves so she can respect herself, and then others will respect you also.

But back to the original question, an American version? Yes, much needed. Many people think rudeness is how to get what they want, and when I call someone sir or ma'am, I am astounded by their reaction, as if they never heard it before.

I know there are etiquette classes but no finishing schools here in the US. I think girls go to finishing school between high school and college.
