Repealing drug prohibition is the only commonsense solution to our nation's drug crisis. And since we are a long way from shouting "I want my THC" in a unified chorus (primarily because we're frightened of the reprecussions), the best shield to stand behind is law and order. FBI statistics show that nearly 60% of the total crime in America is a result of drug prohibition. Our elected leaders need to quit worrying about me smoking a joint on my back porch, and focus on the enormous societal benefits that would come with such a massive reduction in crime. Anyone else agree?

I agree about the part about allowing me to smoke my joint on my own back porch but if you look at alcohol...you will see that even though the rescending of the prohibition lessened the crimes related to obtaining, tranporting and drinking alcohol, it did not change what happens to the "user" when the alcohol gets the best of him/her. I am a strong supporter of the right to smoke marijuana, however, the other drugs (if allowed the same decrimininalization) will cause large (and maybe even larger than now)problems with the addicted society. If we decriminalize and regulate drugs other than MJ, we need to spend an equal amount of money on free drug rehabilitation and withdrawal assistance clinics. From a former addict.
