I had a similar reaction to the previous poster -- what a preposterous miscarriage of justice. A bit of surfing, though, shows that the film seems to have omitted some salient points.
There's a site called www.peterson-staircase.com, and whoever runs the site very obviously has a strong bias against Mike Peterson. However, that site does bring up some points which, if true, might cast the facts in a different light. For example, it says that Michael Peterson had not had any income for 3 years, that the family owed substantial amounts of money, and that Michael Peterson would get more than $1,000,000 in cash and benefits if his wife were to die due to an accident. Also, it appears that the State had multiple forensic witnesses who came to the same conclusion as the witch-resembling Doctor Radish.
Now, I don't necessarily think that this proves guilt. But it does seem to me that the omission of such stuff makes the film less convincing.
