It is wonderful to find this film on the Sundance Channel!! I have been trying to buy the film in the US but apparently it has not been released here. I never thought it would be on american TV.

I have been a huge fan of David Wenham's since Lord of the Rings where despite Peter Jackson's unforgivable meddlling with Faramir's plot line and character he was still able to bring strength and authenticity to his role. Then just loved hiim in Better Than Sex, the only movie I have ever seen about sex that was not salacious, but funny, sexy and healthy.

I admire D.W. as an actor because, despite his early success as sexy "Diver Dan" on Aussie TV he has taken many roles that are not based on his good looks. Johnny Spit in this film is a case in point. I read that the audiences in Australia gasped with shock when he came onscreen, they could not believe it. He's like a shapeshifter, able to assume any role, any character. Want proof-check him out as Faramir and then watch him as the nerdy assistant in Van Helsing. You won't believe it's the same person.

His performance in Gettin' Square steals the movie. His courtroom scene is outrageous and it only takes the viewer a little while to catch on to his tactics...he completely controls the panel investigating his friends. Dumb like a fox, we used to say. As you watch this (even if you're not a big D.W. fan) you will be disappointed the story does not follow him to Israel. You want to see how Johnny Spit fares. The nominal lead in the film is just a block of wood in comparison.

Thanks Sundance Channel (oh, and thanks for Kath and Kim too!) T'Mara
