A very sad movie from Japan. Posted on Aug 20 2006 at 2:21pm by When I watched Dolls, there were three climaxes in every three stories. There are three stories: Matsumoto and Sawako, a couple had been apart since they've broke up due to Sawako's psychiatric and suicidal breakdown; an aging yakuza returns to the park where he used to meet his long-lost love. And Haruna Yamaguchi, a pop star, whose face was disfigured due to a drowning incident by two teenagers, confronts the phenomenal devotion to her number one fan Nukui.
Dolls was such a depressing movie from Japan because the third story reminded me growing of being a number one fan to a man in his thirties as an actor.
In Haruna's case, her rise to fame came to a close. That movie intertwined with grief and sadness in our lives.
