We've got big plans for Asia Extreme on our web site and while we've got a lot of ideas ourselves, we wanted to throw the process open and get some direct input from fans of the series.

Beyond new films (which is in the works), what would you all like to see on our Asia Extreme web site? What features would keep you coming back for more? It could be anything, from talent blogs to video interviews to anything new and exciting that nobody's thought of doing on a web site before. We've got a lot of new features that we're considering already, but we wanted to hear directly from the series' fans about what you would want to see online.

Post your comments here and we'll continuously collect and evaluate them. Your thoughts may end up helping shape the future direction of our site.

Battle Royale is a great Tartan Asia Extreme movie, but was never released in the U.S. The movie still has quite a following. It would be great if you could show it, or at least put up some info about it.

It's great that you have this series going. Tartan Asia Extremes are awesome! I was actually going to recommend Phone and Tale of Two Sisters because those are my favorite, but you guys are ahead of me on that one.

I have a request for you to put out LADY VENGENCE. It's kind of a "sequel" to sympathy for mr vengence.

      And also Ju-On 2.

      THANKS!

Another request.. Takashi Miike's "IMPRINT". I saw some great images from this one.. but I can't find the actual movie anywhere.

Best Buy carries the Miike's Imprint.

IMPRINT was actually part of the Showtime Masters of Horror series, but the movie was deemed too controversial and disturbing to air by Showtimes execs and was removed from the channel's regular broadcast schedule. The movie was released as a part of the Mastsrs of Horror dvd collection and can be purchased from various retailers including Best Buy (as was mentioned above) and Amazon.

Ask and ye shall receive! (At least in this case.) We've recently launched our new Asia Extreme mini-site, and we're in the process of posting dozens of exclusive killer video features. Among these are interviews with PHONE director Byeong-ki Ahn, BAD GUY director Ki-duk Kim, and more! We're adding these video features on a daily basis, so keep checking back.

You can find the Asia Extreme mini-site here: http://www.sundancechannel.com/asiaextreme [www.sundancechannel.com] or by just clicking the Asia Extreme entry in the sidebar nav to the left.

Also, Kim Ji-woon's "A Bittersweet Life" is supposed to be a neo-noir masterpiece and worth showing.

A Bittersweet Life was fantastic. I saw it about 7 months ago. I have recently been turned to watch more ASian cinema because the directing style and script writing is just refreshing.

I would love to see Miike's Vistitor Q or Gozu on the Asia Extreme block. I think those two films are probably Miike's more sophisticated work to date--Tobias

I havent seen Gozu yet, but Visitor Q was just shocking and jaw dropping in every sense. For some people that just dont appreciate Miike they probably would be disgusted, but he is a genius. I also love Ichii the Killer. Im not a violent person but those scenes were so violent but done in a beautiful poetic, Illiad-esque type fashion.

I would also like to see besides director feedback, is possible all day director movies even some anime.

For the site maybe some previews of some upcoming aisan movies that will hit theatres this year, And maybe some FAn Reviews on movies. Like not on the board but critic reviews.

And new films wouldnt hurt either :) Battle Royale 1 & 2, Suicide Club, Three Extremes 1 & 2, Joint Security Area.. etc.

I'd love to see some trivia portion to the website that interacts with the movie. I often find myself on wikipedia after I see a movie like the Dumpling movie to see if i can find other opinions of the movie.

I also think each movie should have its own thread under this forum for discussion.

Love asian extreme!! Each movie gets better and better! Do a marathon of asian extreme! I won't leave the house! Would also like to see on sundance directors and/or cast giving their thoughts on the asian extreme films. Plaese re-play films several times during week so we can catch them if we miss Sunday's movie block.

Any documentaries on Asian Extreme Films? Or film festivals?

I"d also like to see recommendations of movies based on the latest entry. I'm not naive enough to think you guys can get the latest horror movies (considering how long it takes to port to the video store) but recommedations would be nice.

I'd absolutely love to see some kind of marathon showing the movies that have aired. I've missed a lot of them from this season and the last.
I really enjoyed the four movies you showed on On Demand last month. Perhaps you can periodically show more Asia Extreme films on that service.

i would love to see asian extrene on On Demand... its sometimes hard to catch movies on at midnight and when they do air again (which isn't often enough in my opinion) its usually even later 3-4am... i have done my best to watch all of the movies that have come on but there have been a few i have missed every time and a few i would love to be able to watch again and again...

others to add to my list i posted before:

      Into the Mirror

      Strange Circus

      Ghost of Mae Nak

      Infection

      Sigaw (the echo)

Why not do an entire month of Miike with Gozu, Fudoh, Ichi the Killer, and Visitor Q? Other recommendations: Battle Royale, Red to Kill, The Untold Story, Ebola Syndrome, Dr. Lamb, Human Porkchop, Guts of a Virgin, The Story of Rikki, Oldboy, My Wife is a Gangster, Prisoner Scorpion, and School of the Holy Beast. And why not offer a detailed analysis of some of the more confusing films such as Audition and A Tale of Two Sisters?

idea: play original movie and sequel back to back. Ring and ring 2 for example.
Give away Asian Extreme videos, register to win on site.
Play original film (The Ring) and Americanized version back to back
Ask for Viewers Choice airings of movies on site.
Have Asian Extreme NEWS on site: what directors are working on now, americanized versions being made (The Eye)
      thanks!

They should play The Beatles: Magical Mystery Tour. That movie really was a horror, not because it was bad, but because it was creepy, surreal and disturbing. Unfortunately it's not Asian though, and probably doesn't belong in this thread. Sorry.

        • Retro Nippon Sunday's! Posted on Jan 10 2008 at 2:29pm by soh_vet
A grand idea would be to axe the new stuff and play the old classics. More specifically, retro Japanese films from the Nikkatsu Action and Yakuza Eiga (Toei or other) genres. IFC already has Samurai Saturday's, why don't you do a Yakuza Sunday? There are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of films that fall in this genre and need to be exposed

The Sundance Channel needs more Bunta Sugawara!

For the TV segment i'm just wondering if it will be always limited to horror, suspence and thrillers. although these are my favorite genres i know there are many more movies that should be appreciated as well. many people limit themselves to what is brought over and licenced missing out on many great ones. maybe there should be an additional sement added to the TV line-up to brings other kind of genres. since the time slot is also somewhat of a problem, since it's so late on a sunday night it sometimes is very inconvenient.

as for the website features. besides interviews with directors and actors, i would like to see reviews of recent films. although them won't be playing in the west at the same time as in their country of origin, it would be nice to get an idea of movies to look forward to.

      thaks

I never get to see the movies, as they're only on Sunday at 12:00. Why can't they be shown at other times during the week as well. Sundance does this with a lot of their movies. It's a cable channel, and you shouldn't be worrying about what the kids will see.

Could you possibly replay some of the movies? I have to record them on my DVR so I can go to bed early for work the next day. I recorded "Witch Board: Bunshinsaba" and it recorded all but about the last minute. I was so irritated! I really enjoy all the scary movies. Thanks!

I love Asia Extreme!! Before The Sundance Channel, I had no exposure to films with subtitles. I just assumed I would not like them. Since I started watching Asia Extreme, I have been seeking out other foreign films (not just horror movies) and I've discovered that I love them. Thank you so much!!! I agree with the previous comments, that it would be great if some of the previous Asia Extreme movies could air on a second night of the week; perhaps on a scheduled night so that we will not miss the repeat and can expect it at that time and day of the week.

I'd like to see the movies "Face," "The Suicide Club," "Ringu," "Inner Senses,' "Silk," "Arang," "Stacy," and "The Maid" on Asia Extreme. Thanks again!!!
