Anyone have any insight into this? I thought it might have to do with someone rejecting what was being proposed by bending their elbow and pulling away.

This is what Dr. Angelou said, "But the thing is, you have some place that nobody, kith nor kin, can take you beyond. Somewhere in the bend of your elbow, that is nobody."

I believe that "in the bend of your elbow" means that it's ingrained in you, something that can't be compromised. It's this innate place in your soul that no one can take you beyond, no matter how they try to persuade you. In Dave Chappelle's case, the compromise was his integrity and the persuasion was $5O million dollars.

You can only bend your elbow so far in any direction. Friends nor family can't make you bend your arms any farther than you can already...meaning that you have your limits and your standards and nobody...even yourself...can push past those limits.

Do you really understand why you were confused by Dr. Angelou's references and her writings? It is quite simple, Dr. Angelou is a no talent hack who was elevated from obscurity in the Clinton administration to be America's poet laureate. She was no talent, she has no deep wisdom. She is part of the establishment that believes that all they have to do is wake up in the morning and they are better than all of us common trash. The only people in the country that ever thought she had any talent was Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey and the liberal elite who view themselves so much more enlightened than you or I. These people attend their dinner parties, exchange compliments about their expensive clothing and tell each other about much better they are than the common man. Truth be known these people are the most ignorant people on the planet.

Each intelligent response here has been an attempt to digest Mrs. Angelou's poetic word. Poetry always leaves room for interpretation, and this quote is clearly an example.

Fortunately we were able to see the words and hear how they were said and I agree with the responses. The bend of your elbow seems to bring my mind to a body part I normally wouldn't pay much attention to. I'm attracted to the reference for that very reason alone.

So while she alludes to not being forced to bend further than you should, and the inner strength that runs through our blood, I say this to you. Perhaps you're not looking or living Deep Enough.

I think you'll find that within the struggle is hierarchy. When utilized correctly, the struggle will be able to target all counter-levels of the hierarchy's that keep us down. Angelou's influence is unquestionably large and extremely intelligent.

No one likes bullies and liars who hypocritically take their lifestyles for granted and live ignorantly in bliss while others struggle to survive. This is might be large in politics, but w Maya?

Leave the Clinton's out of it, and maybe the "no talent hack" comments about Maya might stop making as much sense to you're Rightest views.
