Who else would you like to see on Iconoclasts?

My vote would go for Reese Witherspoon.

She's so young and allready an oscar winner and one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood. I believe she has a great career ahead of her and if she isn't an "Iconoclast" allready, she certainly will be in 20 years.

I agree. I would love to see Reese Witherspoon, and the ultimate show would be Reese together with Kate Winslett.

I am a bit techo challenged but wanted to say to someone out there, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Sundance!!!! I grew up on the Big Island and am now in middle America. Specifically, Dallas (sad face), and desperately needed a tugging back down to earth from the materialism and superficial trappings of this town that I've been sucked into. I think I will go have a good soaking cry now...

I just went to an event featuring filmmaker David Lynch and musician Donovan, who are apparently buddies...so I think they should be one of the pairings next season. Basically, they both are into transcendental meditation, which helps them with their creative processes (procesi? who knows). They are super cute together.

Mine is already scheduled. It's DEAN KAMEN!! I knew he would eventually be on ICONOCLASTS !!

Bravo!! I believe Einstein would have looked up to DEAN KAMEN. He's an inventor, but most of all he goes out of his way to make sure our children are involved in learning outside of the box. Sure, you may find people that are smart, and rich, etc. But Dean Kamen gives back to society. If it's not his FIRST (just google FIRST) with robotics, it's his inventions that have made our life easier. His most recent that I am impressed with is a water purifier. I've been overseas and have been without water for 4 years. I can't tell you what an impact it has on your life when you are without water.

      Dean's amazing....period.

I realize Dean Kamen is not the only person out there with such talent and brains but he's the most HANDSOME!!! LOL

I agree with Teri. Dean Kamen is amazing. It's not just his ideas (like the Stirling engine operating off of cow dung); it's his passion. Have you ever heard this man speak?! His FIRST will revolutionize the way children see science and technology.

I think that any of the people you mentioned would be great, especially Ian McKellen. I am just bummed that I didn't realise this show existed before a few weeks ago.

I would have loved to see the ep with Redford and Newman! I did have it recorded on the DVR, and mistakenly deleted it. What a doofus, I am.

I'm watching the Eddie Vedder/Laird Hamilton one, at the moment.

Okay, mine's Josh Lucas, and I wanted to pair him with Newman--(I'm a newbie, just found out about the show and have yet to see my first episode)--but it seems now that Newman is out of the question as he's already been on...so...???...How about Vanessa Redgrave...Weird, I know, but they both strike me as such *real* and down to earth people...and very straightforward. I think it would make for fascinating stuff.

Who else would you like to see on Iconoclasts?

I would love to see Bono from U2 and Tony Bennett. I think their vast experience in different musical genre's and generations, along with their intelligent perspectives on the industry and life experiences would be a great episode to view.

Thanks to YonexGuy for posting a pair.

I'm reposting to this thread as I found it duplicated so I shall duplicate.

NEXT... I'll start a new thread promoting "Who is your Iconoclast Set?"

        Greetings,

I think that on this forum (or topic) you should declare not only who is an iconoclast (1 person) but also share who you would like them paired with for their discussion.

As for Angeline Jolie, my fantasy pick would be another beauty turned Good Will Ambassador - Audrey Hepburn. Since that is not possible obviously... I would have to pick someone who has been crucial in adopting something not of their culture, after having great success in their own country, and turning it to something unique.

Not sure who asked the question: "who is your Iconoclast?" but my response is to alway recommend pairs of people and reasons and it may not always be names.

I thought of one this evening:

A top climber of Everest - true climber, not writer of climbing and a top wall street executive. I think it could be an interesting exploration of DRIVE and perhaps reflect for both parties why wealthy executives go after physical challenge yet many climbers seek a certain insatiable drive to earn the rewards beyond people's imagination. It is a question of Drive, but also of Satisfaction. I think I would enjoy watching such a feature in the hands of Iconoclasts capable staff.

I'm not sure who a good pairing would be, but someone needs to be with Peter Sellars, the opera director and cultural activist. He's a living genius.

I would like to see Cindy Lauper. She has always been an independent spirit with a flair for individuality and spunk. Her most recent tour for LGBT equality proves her current vitality and passion. How about her and John Waters.... What an hour would be spent!

Robert Redford- I admire him a great deal. He has contributed so much to Film development and Conservation of the Environment. He has also managed to separate his private life from his public image - very difficult for such a huge movie star! I would love to see him paired with Anderson Cooper or Leonardo DiCaprio.

Meryl Streep - What a talent this remarkable lady is from Out of Africa to Bridges of Madison County to Devil Wears Prada. I think she is the best there is in terms of acting abilities. Yet she seems so down to earth - what she could almost be your best friend! I would love to see her paired with Halle Berry

I'd love to see Bono taking about how he understand the world with a scientist or a thinker.
I've recently read that some peope feels that artists should not be invoved in politics. this people thinks that artists should enterntain and that's it.
this would be a great opportunity for many to see that artists' opinions are as good as anybody elses' since their experience in life allows the to see things in a very particular way.

I'd like to see Dr. Robert Muller, former assistant Sec. Gen. to the United Nations. He's getting on in years, yet he is still on the cutting edge of where we all are heading towards in the realm of ideas. The Green is the beginning, or the outer layer of an inner change, an evolution for humanity. This man, Robert Muller, gives hope and encouragement in every word he speaks. That's what we need now, more than anything. I don't mean positive thinking - but ideas about how to change the world that are grounded in principles every person on earth, in every religion, or no religion, every race and creed can adopt. He is a treasure who should be given an audience before his time on earth is at an end. He is the father of global education. He started the University for Peace in Costa Rica. The Robert Muller Schools, which incorporate conflict-resolution skills, such as global elementary model United Nations and holistic-learning approaches, are applied were named after him. He lives in Santa Barbara. He wrote a book called Most of All They Taught Me Happiness and others. He sends out daily ideas called Good Morning World by e-mail about changing the world.

I would like to see Ken Tyler, an innovator, a artist, and a professional printer. He was a major figure in the Printing Renaissance of the early 60's and 70's, collaborated with major fine artists, Rauschenburg, Stella, Albers, and many more.

The topic should be "the art of collaboration".... you could pick a director, a coach like Phil Jackson.....It would be great...

I would like to see Shai Agassi and T. Boone Pickens together. Shai is a former CEO with the SAP companies who has a start-up called Better Place which is poised to turn the international automotive industry on it's collective ear. T. Boone Pickens defined what it meant to be a wildcatter in the oil industry, THEN became the name in hostile takeovers, and NOW the Pickens Plan purports to put the Midwest Wind Corridor to proper use (and changing the way energy is moved/traded along the way). Putting these two brilliant minds togather would make for an outstandng discussion. Would that I could be a fly on THAT wall...
