i cant even begin to express in words the respect and admiration i have for gabbie, lucas, tj and especially raci, also being deaf.
the courage you all have is amazing and inspiring. i truly wish you all the very best life has to offer.
i dont think most peope could summon the strength you all seem to have from the little iv'e witnessed in the documentary. that to me is truly a blessing.
i look foreward to the last two episodes and hopefully one day a followup.

| I think that credit also must be given to the Sundance Channel for representing such a minority community, within a minority community. The gay marriage debate rages on our front pages, but the fight for trans rights is just as important, if not more, as giving "couples" rights to marry. It was amazing how much the subjects were involved in the perspective of the documentary, and how multifaceted it was. There were discussions of class, race, gender, and disability issues spun in a fashion that everyone from progressive to mainstream america could relate to. An eloquent, respectful, and expressive film on the trans community without infantizing it, and a great teaching & learning tool for anyone who isn't lucky enough to be directly surrounded by transfolk. Thank you Sundance, World of Wonder, Jeremy Simmons, and crew.

I couldn't agree with you more and my deepest respect goes out really to all those involved in the documentary and presenting it.
It really is something special when such a subject can be presented in a way that leaves someone such as myself, someone with little previous knowledge, interest or awareness, left with an awareness, respect and understanding of another persons life.

I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments expressed in the discussion, especially the marriage conundrum for gays and transsexuals. Legal recognition of gender transition and the right to change your assigned sex is being approved by the more enlightened governments. The last thing trans people want is 'gay marriage rights' as many do not identify as gay but just simply want the same rights as other men and women to hetrosexual marriage recognition.
It is also important to note that gender orientation is not sexual orientation, there are trans lesbians and gay transmen as well as straight trans people who are attracted to the opposite sex, even transmen attracted to transwomen and vice versa. One of the most interesting variations are transmen who transition ('change' gender) only to then identify as gay men.
I think it was Darwin who said "Nature loves variety, Society abhors it" - but hopefully what was a truism back then is a thing of the past. With all the concern about the protection of bio-diversity in the ecology, perhaps a little more attention should be given to biodiversity within the human niche of that same universal ecology.
