BRUCE WEBER
LET'S GET LOST
Musician Chet Baker personified '50s West Coast Cool Jazz. His good looks led to comparisons with James Dean and Montgomery Clift; on the trumpet he was arguably Miles Davis's rival; the intimate wispy languor of his vocals made countless women swoon. Yet three decades later Baker was a ravaged ghost of his former self, a stark testament to hard years and hard living. Shot during Baker's final year, Bruce Webers "enigmatic, hypnotic" (Washington Post) film tribute garnered an Oscar® nomination for Best Documentary.
