Brooke Mara Barnett is a sophisticated and distinguished trial attorney who provides a strong voice for her clients in both the criminal and civil sectors. Brooke was born in Queens, New York and was raised in Central New Jersey. Brooke’s dream to defend those often forgotten—the criminally accused—motivated her as she moved through her undergraduate program at the University of Cincinatti, where she studied Political Science and travelled abroad to study in Tokyo. During this time, Brooke’s energies were focused on planning her life around reaching her goal of working as an attorney defending people’s rights, and she started her journey by interning at a highly regarded defense firm during her summers home from school.

Brooke pursued law school immediately upon graduating and seized every opportunity to prepare herself to enter the profession ready to fight for her clients caught up in an unforgiving system. While at the Nova Southeastern University Law Center, she excelled in trial advocacy competitions, worked in the Essex County Jail as an intern for the Office of the Public Defender, and continued to gain firm experience at Pope, Bergrin, & Verdesco.

After law school, Brooke started her career at an established and
formidable Newark defense firm, where she was immediately entrusted with the full range of defense responsibilities: writing and filing motions,
appearing in court, and trying cases for clients charged with everything
from simple assault to sexual abuse. It was here, as well, that Brooke developed her aggressive and thoughtful approach to representation for which she is now renowned. After her rise to senior associate, Brooke moved on to begin a new firm, Saluti & Barnett, and soon after went on to establish her present firm, Brooke M. Barnett & Associates, P.C.

Brooke’s longtime passion for justice and the law shines through all aspects of the firm’s work. She motivates and inspires her fellow attorneys and staff to advocate with passion, and encourages close working relationships with clients and their families. Brooke’s approach to her work and the leadership she provides in the firm result in consistent, high-quality and innovative representation. Brooke represents clients at the Federal and State level charged with a range of offenses -- everything from white collar crimes, violent crimes, drug and weapons offenses to notorious homicides and sexual assaults. Brooke and her associates also represent plaintiffs who were victims of police brutality, malicious prosecution, and false imprisonment. She is admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey and the Federal District Court of New Jersey. Brooke regularly goes beyond the borders of the Garden State for her clients, successfully representing individuals charged in New York and Pennsylvania as well.
