Biofuel Research Getting Closer to Unleaded Substitute

Biomass waste is a very renewable resource since there is a new pile of biological waste every single second of every day. What if there was a way to take that waste and turn it into fuel that could get you to work?

Some researchers think they are on the path to developing a treatment system that can create a fuel which can compete with petroleum on its merits. Yes, this means the product will be better, not just green or morally, but in pure business profitability; a more lucrative product will be born out of discarded biological materials.

Further R&D on biomass fuels becomes an even greater attraction when you consider that the fuels will work in standard engines. There is no diesel conversion kit required. Virent Energy Systems, the company that is researching this new biomass fuel, is already working on a jet fuel substitute.
