We are Greening Second Life!

On April 17 we will be launching a new programming block dedicated to the environment called THE GREEN (kicks off at 9pm EST on Sundance Channel). We are excited to bring you the best in green-themed programming - both on-air and online - and now in Second Life! We have a lot of exciting things planned for Second Life so check back often for all the latest info. We are still finalizing our Second Life plans but let's just say we have screenings, guest speakers and other fun stuff in the works.
We started our green push in Second Life last Friday when we screened 5 animated shorts with green themes (we call it 'Greenimation') at 8pm EST. We had about 30 guests and most seemed intrigued by the animation on display. Check out the shorts at http://www.sundancechannel.com/festival/?page=greenimation
We are currently working on a new project with one of the hosts of THE GREEN, Simran Sethi, that we're very excited about. We just shot 13 original 'green' webisodes with Simran last week and she will host screenings of the pieces and come to Sundance Channel island in Second Life for live chats each week beginning April 17.
So what will Simran do in Second Life? Well, she'll be on hand to chat with viewers, fans and green enthusiasts about all things green. She'll mingle. She'll sip virtual coffee in our cafe. She'll be on hand to answer questions or debate.
We're not really sure where this will lead but we're willing to test the waters. As far as we can tell this is the first time a TV network has brought someone from on-air into Second Life for an extended period. We are excited because Simran will be a great resource for everyone to learn from and share with. These webisodes should get discussion going since they'll highlight issues raised during that week's documentary premiere that is part of THE GREEN. The webisodes also provide advice on how you can live a greener life in case you're ready.
Together with Simran, we are also planning to invite special guests into Second Life every once in a while - from activists, to educators, to scientists or other luminaries we think you should get to know. Stay tuned for more.
