Second Life

It's a virtual world – not a game. A SIM City where you’re the SIM. Create a virtual version of yourself called an avatar and use it to meet other people and explore all there is to see in Second Life. Just like the web is a series of interconnected websites, Second Life is a series of interconnected worlds called "islands." People buy islands and build homes, hotels, shops and anything else they can dream up.

What can I do in Second Life?

Whatever you want. Explore the islands, meet other people, start a business, even get married.

What’s an Avatar?

An alias. A character that represents you in Second Life. It's your virtual life in the virtual world. You create it. You decide how it looks and what it wears. You control what it says, where it goes and what it does, buys or builds. You use your avatar to teleport to islands.

How do I join Second Life?

1. First, choose a membership level

2. To choose your membership level go to http://secondlife.com/whatis/pricing.php [secondlife.com]

3. Fill out the registration pages

4. Download Second Life software and install on your computer.

5. Read the rules of Second Life

6. Now you're in! You can change the appearance of your avatar. There are instructions when you first enter Second Life to help you navigate your avatar.
