Vincent and Maya Report on Build Progress

Vincent and Maya recently went in Second Life to check out the new digs. Here's an entry from Maya on what she found in world.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect before I arrived. Futuristic? Fantastic? I’m pleased to report it’s shaping up nicely.

There really isn’t much there yet because the design process starts with building the landscape. Mountains? Desert? Snow? That’s up to us. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as we move along.

Once we settle on the landscape the team will start adding structures and other elements to the island. Vincent and I brainstormed a bit with the team while there (see pics).

It’s a decent sized sim. We teleported around and I’d say it takes about 15-20 seconds to get from one end to the other when flying. Depending on the final layout/terrain, a stroll by foot will take a few minutes I bet. We are leaning towards mountains so there will probably be various levels on the island. We are still working with the team to determine the final shapes of the peaks. Expect a rugged landscape with some fun outdoor activities though. The screening room itself will be sophisticated but simple to use and navigate around. We hope to make it an inviting space that SLers will want to use.

Some of you have started sending us e-mails. We’ve received notes from MTV News, Netscape, a few bloggers and a new SL tabloid! Keep them coming. If you have some specific ideas about the construction please send them our way. Or if you have questions you want us to answer please send those too.

Here are a few photos I snapped during our visit. I’ll post some more in the next few days. We’ll also have one of our SL designers post later this week to discuss the construction process from his point of view.
