This past Sunday, an eager crowd of critics and fans devoted a full day — from 9 till 5 — at Park City’s classic Egyptian Theater to watching Jane Campion’s TOP OF THE LAKE in its entirety. The screening of the seven-part series was a Sundance Film Festival first and despite the serious time commitment, audiences were left thrilled by the event.

Sundance Institute this evening announced the jury prizes and honorable mentions in short filmmaking at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. The awards were presented at a ceremony in Park City, Utah.

This year’s Short Film program is comprised of 65 short films selected from a record 8,102 submissions.
The Short Film jurors are: Mike Farah, President of Production for Funny or Die; Don Hertzfeldt, Academy Award® nominated American independent filmmaker; and Magali Simard, short film programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival.

Carter is a well-adjusted Adult Child of Divorce. So he thinks. When he discovers he was part of a divorce study as a child, it wreaks havoc on his family and forces him to face his chaotic past. Adam Scott’s increasingly befuddled everyman is flanked by vivacious comic performances from Catherine O’Hara and Amy Poehler as his stubborn mom and sassy stepmom, respectively.

For the first time ever, a television series will screen as part of the Sundance Film Festival’s Premieres lineup. Sundance Channel’s original series TOP OF THE LAKE will screen in its entirety on Sunday, January 20th at the Egyptian Theater in Park City and will be followed by a Q&A with the creators and cast, including Oscar-winning writer and director Jane Campion (THE PIANO), and co-stars Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) and Holly Hunter (THE PIANO). But that’s not all! Our new series RECTIFY will also debut at a private screening in Park City during the festival. Both shows are already popping up on critics’ must-see lists. Sundance Institute announced today 19 members of five juries awarding prizes at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. Short Film Awards will be announced at a ceremony on January 22 at Park City’s Jupiter Bowl, with feature film awards announced at a separate ceremony on January 26.

Sundance Channel today announced that two of their highly anticipated original scripted series, TOP OF THE LAKE and RECTIFY will debut during the 2013 Sundance Film Festival taking place in Park City Utah in January. TOP OF THE LAKE will screen in the premiere category, marking the first time the Sundance Film Festival has included a scripted long form series in their lineup. The seven-part series will screen in its entirety on Sunday, January 20th at the Egyptian Theater in Park City and will be followed by a Q&A with the creators and cast. Campion will also participate in a discussion of the creative appeal of working in long-form episodic narrative as part of a Festival panel titled “Power of Story: The New Face of Independent Voice” on January 19.

By 2005, Adams had appeared in a handful of television shows (The West Wing, Smallville) and logged a minor role in Steven Spielberg’s CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. But her open-hearted performance as sweet and simple pregnant Southerner Ashley in Phil Morrison’s JUNEBUG put her on the map, establishing her as one of the brightest new stars in Hollywood. The buzz began with a Special Jury Prize at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, and continued as she won an Independent Spirit Award, multiple critics’ group nominations, a Critics’ Choice Award and an Oscar nomination.
