End of the year list…list

Can you freaking believe 2011 is, for all intents and purposes, over? That means it is time for all of those end-of-year lists. So many lists, so little time left to read them; so I’ve compiled my own list of lists that will hopefully amuse, and at the very least distract, you.
- For fans of MAKE and DIY culture, here are the top 10 “most important” people on Etsy, the popular online shop and community for independent handmade crafters.
- For an exercise in guilty schadenfreude in 2011 here is a supercut of the best fails this year on YouTube. If you laugh at any of them you are a horrible, horrible person. I am a horrible, horrible person.
- GQ has a lengthy photo gallery of men’s fashion this year. I approve fashion forward tendencies as much as the next person in the front row during Fashion Week, but I think we can all agree that Jared Leto needs slow his roll a little bit on the sartorial front.
- Here is a Tumblr devoted to the best “longread” articles published this year. My favorite, which read like a thriller with a M. Night Shyamalan-esque twist was this true investigative account of a murder in Guatemala. It is a MUST READ story published in The New Yorker.
- You might want to freshen up your professional resume on LinkedIn if it contains any of these words in this list of the 10 most overused buzzwords in profiles on LinkedIn.
- Similarly, if you’re posting any of these most shared articles on Facebook, then stop. We’ve all read them already!
- I know you’re pleased with your over-filtered Instagram pictures, but how about this year’s best photos (including the shot above). Check out National Geographic’s annual photo contest to knock you off your pedestal a little.
- And lastly, my favorite topic: gifs! Here are the 20 most important gifs in 2011.
