- Landfill gas power comes to Detroit: Waste Management of Michigan has announced plans to build two plants that convert landfill gas into electricity in the Detroit metropolitan area. Expected output: 24.8 megawatts.
- The solar panel that works in the dark: Full-spectrum solar panels aren’t new… but, up until now, they’ve been incredibly expensive. Researchers at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory may have hit the sweet spot… (via Cleantechnica and Greenwala)
- Find utility rebates and more: A new database by ennovationz lets you easily search for rebates, tax incentives, and financing for energy efficient purchases and home improvements. (via Cleantechies)
- The plug-and-play wind turbine: Clarian Power‘s SmartBox wind turbine is not only designed for “plug and play” installation, but is also relatively cheap… See the video above for details. (via Earth Techling)
- Gas-sippers greener than hybrids?: In some cases, yes, according to The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy… when upstream emissions and battery disposal are figured in, a Mini Cooper scores higher than a Chevy Volt. (via LA Times Greenspace and @greendivameg)
- Hyundai unveils new fuel cell-electric vehicle: Hyundai? Yep… the Korean automaker rolled out the third-generation Tucson ix Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle at this week’s Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Energy 2011 conference.
- Charge your phone with hydrogen: SiGNa Chemistry is working on an electronic device charger based on the concept of “just add water” (from which hydrogen is extracted).
