Will 2010 be a good year for green tech? Looks like it from the first finds of the new year…
- Green tech at CES: It’s that time of year again… the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show opened today in Vegas, and CNET is keeping on top of green tech on display.
- The sun doesn’t shine all the time: That’s one of the criticisms of solar power… but start-up Sun Catalytix thinks it might have a solution to storing energy produced when the sun is shining: mimic photosynthesis.
- The carbon neutral cargo ship: Low-tech rules! B9 Energy’s fossil-fuel free cargo ship will run on partly on liquefied methane, but mostly by sails. (via EcoGeek and The Cleantech Group)
- “Baby Prius” makes debut at Detroit Auto Show: Toyota plans to unveil its concept for a sub-compact version of the Prius next week in Detroit. (via Triple Pundit)
- The Coke-powered cell phone: Designer Daizi Zheng‘s bio cell phone battery runs on Coca-Cola… or any other sugary drink. According to Zheng, this creates a fully biodegradable, longer-lasting battery (via Treehugger)
- “Smart” turbine anticipates wind: Researchers at Denmark’s National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy have developed a wind turbine that can “see” wind gusts, and adjust itself accordingly. (via Cleantechnica)
- The Brown diesel-hybrid: UPS is working with the National Renewable Energy Lab to develop a diesel hybrid system for its delivery vans. (via Earth & Industry)
