Improv Everywhere's grocery store musical

Improv Everywhere, a “comedic performance art group” has carved quite a name for itself especially in New York City with their various “culture jamming” stunts or what they call “missions” (mentioned previously right here). Some involve the recruitment of sometimes hundreds of people (See: Annual No Pants subway rides and MP3 summer missions) and others which involve just the members or “agents” of the improv group who take a surprised and sometimes confused public along for a fun and magical ride, such as their latest act. This time six agents enact a musical in a grocery store in Astoria, Queens.

I’ve been a long time fan of this Improv Everywhere, which in my opinion really went mainstream on the Internet and beyond with their mission last winter where over 200 agents stood frozen in the middle of rush hour in Grand Central station in Midtown, New York. If you’re still unfamiliar with Improv Everywhere’s particular acts of awesomeness that always brings a smile and laughter to everyone, then get started with a few of my favorites from their past missions:

Rob! – An entire section of fans try to help “Rob” find his seat at Yankee Stadium.
Romantic comedy cab – An unsuspecting NYC cabbie helps two lost loves reunite.
Best Buy – Agents, including kids dressed in blue polo and khaki pants freak out the homogenously uniformed Best Buy employees.
