The Day The Music Died
Park City, Jan 27: The last day of the festival is also the last day of the ASCAP Music Cafe [www.ascap.com]. This afternoon sets by Annie Stela [www.ascap.com], Ron Sexsmith [www.ascap.com], Emerson Hart [www.ascap.com] and Sparta [www.ascap.com] were the final performances before the Music Cafe closes its door for another year.
But there was more music at Sundance than could be held in a single cafe. In addition to the private parties, clubs, and impromptu performances, Park City also closed down Main Street on Thursday night for a free concert with Of Montreal [www.epitonic.com] and Shiny Toy Guns [www.myspace.com]. Independentfilm.com [www.independentfilm.com] provides a survey of just how much music could be heard at this year’s festival.
Perhaps the only musician not on stage here was Bono. He came to see films.
